Homewood Ski Resort Reviews: Best Homewood Mountain Resort Ski Deals
Homewood Mountain Resort is one of Lake Tahoe’s best ski resorts. Read our Homewood Ski Resort Review & learn why how your family can score ski deals here
Homewood Ski Resort is the only resort located on the western shore of Lake Tahoe. Just a few miles south of Tahoe City, this ski area is full of excitement and adventure for those who travel to its summit and carve down its slopes.
Homewood Ski Resort is one of those skiing areas that perfectly straddles the lines between severe weather conditions. While it receives up to (and sometimes more than) 400 inches of snow per year, it also has about 300 days of sun annually. In other words, the conditions are almost always great.
Most well known for its grand glades and magnificent vistas of Lake Tahoe, Homewood Ski Resort is truly a destination for lovers of snow and nature.
As of yet, there are no lodging accommodations available on site for skiers wishing to stay the night. If you want to enjoy an entire weekend at Homewood Ski Resort, you’ll have to find a place to sleep in Tahoe City or the surrounding areas. Plans are underway, however, to build a lodge at the resort sometime in the near future.
Here’s a look at Homewood Ski Resort’s fact sheet:
- Location: Homewood, California
- Elevation: 6,230 feet (base), 7,880 feet (summit)
- Vertical Rise: 1,650 feet
- Size: 1,260 acres of skiable land
- Runs:
- Lifts: 7
- Snowfall: 400 inches per year
Homewood Ski Resort Reviews: What People Are Saying
Homewood Ski Resort has often been called a Local’s Ski Area. This is because quite a few of the people who use its slopes are people who live in the immediate area, or visitors with insider information.
What this means is that Homewood Ski Resort isn’t the kind of place where you have to share the slopes with thousands of other people or wait on extraordinarily long lines for a chair lift.
In general, skiers are amazed at the sights you encounter when skiing Homewood’s slopes. They say it is so close to the lake that you feel as if you might be able to ski right into its waters.
Because of the lack of a lodge of any kind at the resort’s base, Homewood is more for people who just love to ski, and not necessarily for those who go on such trips to enjoy other amenities like a snow play area, rentals, or dining experiences.
